Prepare for the Grand Oaks CDE and Preliminary North American Championship!

 

Come and have fun and learn at the Boots Wright Clinic! Prepare for the Grand Oaks CDE with a true classroom/practical clinic held at Cypress Keep in Plant City on Saturday, November 11.  The clinic is particularly tailored toward those competing in the ADS Preliminary level North American Championship in December, with a focus on the required “jog” or “trot-up” and the Preliminary #6 dressage test.  Other drivers and auditors are of course welcome!

Tentative Schedule

 

9:00 a.m.

Sign in; Introductions

9:30 a.m.

Classroom: Elements of the Trot-Up (indoors)

10:00 a.m.

Classroom: Elements of Dressage; What Judges Look For; Breakdown of Prelim #6 (indoors)

11:30 a.m.

Practicals:  Video you (or your designate) performing the jog (outdoors)

12:00 noon

Lunch Break, Q&A, Review Videos

1:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Practicals: Elements of dressage (one-on-one with Boots Wright in 10-15 minute timeslots to work on your problem spot in dressage) (outdoors)

At Leisure:  Drive a mini-cones course or practice on a hazard/obstacle (outdoors)

 

Fees

·       $45 for full clinic, including classroom and practicals.  Limit of 12 drivers. Complete entry and payment reserves your slot.  Refunds on cancellation only if your slot can be filled. No walkups.

·       $25 audit fee for all other attendees.  Limit of 12 auditors.  Complete registration and payment reserves your slot.  Refunds on cancellation only if your slot can be filled. No walkups.

·       $15 additional nonmember fee for non-Whips member (can be applied to membership)

·       $10 paddock fee or $5 grounds fee if working out of your trailer per equine

·       $7 per lunch (or bring your own): sandwich variety, chips or potato salad, fruit, drinks, dessert

·        Camping (30 amp) is $20 per night.

Safety Information and Rules

  • All drivers should dress appropriately for dressage, including hat/helmet, whip, gloves, and apron.
  • All members of your party must sign a liability release form, including drivers, navigators, grooms, guests, or assistants. Additional Liability Release forms can be downloaded by Clicking Here.
  • All dogs/pets must be kept on a leash at ALL TIMES.
  • All children under the age of 12 must have adult supervision at ALL TIMES.
  • There is absolutely no smoking or alcoholic beverage consumption allowed anywhere on the Cypress Keep property.
  • Hardhats/safety helmets are required when driving on the property for anyone on a carriage or equine.

A COMPLETE Entry guarantees your slot and reserves your paddock - signed entry form, Coggins papers, and payment. Incomplete entries will be put on a waitlist.

* There are 20 paddocks available. You are also welcome to tie to your trailer for no charge during the day.  PLEASE CLEAN PADDOCKS ON DEPARTURE

* There are 8 camping slots available.  30-amp connections and water.  4 are on Cypress Keep, 4 are on Guthrie property next door.
